Contaminated babies' milk products recalled in UAE

DUBAI – A line of French-made babies milk products has been taken off UAE shelves due to salmonella contamination. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (Moccae) issued a decision to withdraw Lactalis infant milk products following a report and warning issued by the French Directorate General of Health (DGS). In its report and advisory, DGS said the infant milk products were contaminated and that 26 babies who used them were found to have contracted salmonella since December 1. The products, which are exported to 30 countries including the UAE, are now being withdrawn from UAE markets. The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and the municipalities of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah will implement the withdrawal of the product from the market. Baby milk maker Lactalis and French authorities have also ordered a global recall of millions of products over fears of salmonella bacteria contamination. The recall affects customers in countries around the world, including Britain, Greece, Morocco, Sudan, Peru, Colombia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China.
