Contaminated medicine withdrawn in UAE

  DUBAI – Pharmacies in the UAE have been told to withdraw a particular batch of “contaminated” medicine from the market. The Ministry of Health and Prevention said that the recall affected Algoxib (Celecoxib 200mg) from batch 2520516. The medicine, which is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, was manufactured by Global Pharma-Sanofi and produced in May 2016, according to the authority. The ministry said it was recalling this particular batch of medicine due to “contamination with metal particles during the manufacturing process”. The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi sent a circular to healthcare companies and professionals to pull out the product from shelves.
