Coronavirus in UAE: 549 new cases as of April 29

  DUBAI – The number of new coronavirus cases in the UAE continued to climb, with the Ministry of Health and Prevention confirming 549 new cases on Wednesday (April 29). The ministry said the new cases were identified after conducting 26,195 more tests across the country. This brings the UAE’s total number of coronavirus cases to 11,929, although only 9,502 of that are active cases as more people recovered from the virus. The Ministry of Health and Prevention also announced that 148 more people recovered from the virus on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,329. Authorities said there have been no relapse cases of infection in the country. Nine more people died of coronavirus on Wednesday. Those who died had pre-existing health conditions, the ministry said. Meanwhile, movement restrictions have relaxed across the country, with police saying that residents can now travel from emirate to emirate between 6am and 10pm. “The easing of restrictions and procedures does not necessarily mean complacency. Prevention is mandatory for everyone to protect himself first and protect those around him, and based on awareness and responsibility in commitment we will all succeed, God willing, in overcoming this stage,” said Dr Farida Al Hosani, spokeswoman for the country's health sector.
