Coronavirus in UAE: 941 new cases, 1018 recoveries on May 20

  DUBAI – The daily cases of coronavirus in UAE reached nearly 1,000 on Wednesday (May 20), with the Ministry of Health and Prevention announcing 941 new cases. The ministry also announced that 1,018 people recovered from the virus on Monday as the country observed new timings for a curfew spanning 8pm to 6am. For industrial areas and workers’ accommodations, the curfew and disinfection program ran from 6pm to 6am. Dr. Amna Al Dhahak, spokesperson for the UAE Government, said that 11,809 people have recovered from Covid-19 in the UAE so far. Al Dhahak said that six people died of the virus on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths to 233. The official added that 43,732 more tests were done on Monday as part of the UAE's aggressive move to curb the spread of Covid-19. Meanwhile, a UAE-based company ahs developed a laser testing technology that can reportedly give Covid-19 test results in a matter of seconds.
