Coronavirus in UAE: Malls, markets to shut down for two weeks
DUBAI – Malls and markets in the UAE will be closed for two weeks after authorities announced on Monday (March 23) that they are closing all commercial centres to help curb the spread of the coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Prevention and National Emergency and Crisis Disasters Management said that the decision will come into force in 48 hours, and will be subject to re-assessment. Fruit, vegetable, fish and meat markets across the UAE are also affected by the rule. Grocery stores, pharmacies and wholesalers are excluded from the new decision, which is still subject to review and evaluation. Meanwhile, authorities also announced on Monday that restaurants will no longer be allowed to receive customers but may continue to operate home delivery services.
