Coronavirus in UAE: New rules for restaurants, cafes Updated on March 23

DUBAI – New rules have been imposed for restaurants, cafes and food and beverage outlets in the UAE as authorities moved to secure public health against the coronavirus pandemic. As of Monday (March 23), the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency and Crisis and Disaster Management Authority issued new directives that restaurants will not be allowed to receive customers. According to the new rules, restaurants, cafes and F&B outlets in the country may operate for home delivery requests only, for a two-week period, subject to review and evaluation.
The move comes after the UAE decided to close all commercial centres, shopping malls and markets for two weeks. The shutdown may be renewed after this period, depending on a review of the situation.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention and National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management said the decision will come into force in 48 hours.
Grocery stores, pharmacies and wholesalers are excluded, subject to review and evaluation. ICA/Expat Media
