Indian actor Ravindran reveals details of quarantine in UAE

DUBAI – South Indian actor Ravindran revealed details of his quarantine in the UAE after undergoing a test for the new coronavirus or Covid-19. In an interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ravindran said he reported himself to health authorities after his daughter tested positive for Covid-19 last week. His daughter, a gynaecologist, had arrived in the UAE from France on March 8 to visit him in the emirates, which has been his home for a few years. When she noticed symptoms of Covid-19 the next day, she visited a clinic for a swab test. Her test results came out positive two days later and she was taken on an ambulance to a government hospital. Ravindran also volunteered to take a health test as a precaution asked to be taken to a private hospital so he could wait for his test results in isolation. Ravindran said he was prepared to undergo “inconvenience of treatment in isolation at a hospital” to find out if he had coronavirus rather than believing he didn’t have infection and transmit the disease to others, which he compared to “almost like committing mass murder”. The actor eventually tested negative for coronavirus. His daughter also recovered from coronavirus and tested negative after a week’s treatment, he said. He praised the UAE’s health system for having “treated me very well without affecting my privacy”. He also commended UAE immigration authorities for extending his daughter’s visa for free. Ravindran said the hospital bill was waived off as the test and treatment were related to Covid-19. He said isolation in a hospital was “a little bit uncomfortable” but facilities in the hospital like free internet, TV and healthy food “made it a comfortable experience”. The actor urged people to not be afraid to undergo testing if they feel they have symptoms of Covid-19. "It is to save ourselves and others. Otherwise those having infections will turn into murderers although inadvertently by spreading the deadly disease to others," Ravindran said. http://www.expatmedia.net/coronavirus-uae-truth-behind-travel-ban-quarantine-rumours/2020/03/
