A couple from Russia flew all the way to Dubai to get engaged at Ed Sheeran’s concert in the emirate, melting hearts at the packed Sevens Stadium over the weekend. Videos of the proposal went viral on social media. They showed Michael Mohammad getting down on one knee to ask his surprised girlfriend Ekaterina, “Will you marry me?” She said yes. Mohammed, a 39-year-old journalist, proposed with sheets of paper bearing with the message: “I’ve got good news and bad news. I can’t be your boyfriend anymore. Because I want to be your husband. Will you marry me?” He timed his proposal as Sheeran sang “Thinking Out Loud.” He originally wanted to do his proposal during the song “Perfect” but got too nervous he confused “Thinking Out Loud” for the song he had in mind. Nonetheless, it was still a beautiful proposal for the couple, who both were surrounded by a crowd of concertgoers as they relished their intimate moment. Thinking Out Loud’s lyrics also matched the mood: “Under the light of a thousand stars, we found love right where we were.” It was Mohammed and Ekaterina’s first time in Dubai. The couple are both huge fans of Ed Sheeran. Mohammed booked their tickets to Dubai and the concert on New Year’s Day. Ekatrina, 35, works at an international women’s fashion company. ICA/Expat Media
