Couple jailed for filming massage client nude, robbing him in Dubai hotel

DUBAI – A Nigerian couple has been sentenced to two years in jail for luring an Iranian merchant for a massage in a hotel, filming him nude, robbing and assaulting him. The 67-year-old Iranian merchant found an online advertisement offering massage service by a white blonde masseuse in Deira in November 2017. The merchant booked a massage service and agreed to come to the masseuse’s hotel room in Al Muraqqabat. When he arrived there, the room was dark and it wasn’t after a few minutes later when he realized that the woman he was meeting is African. When he tried to leave, two African men came out from an adjacent room of the hotel and dragged him inside. The Nigerian woman and three countrymen ganged up against the merchant, beat him up, pulled him into the washroom, stripped him naked and then filmed him. They also took his mobile phones, cash and two bank cards before tying him up and locking him inside the hotel room. Police were able to arrest a 26-year-old Nigerian man after studying surveillance camera footage from an ATM that the gang used to withdraw money from the Iranian’s account. The Nigerian woman is currently at large. On Thursday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the duo of stealing the merchant’s Dh40,000 in cash and bank cards and stealing his mobile phones and wristwatch. The woman was sentenced in absentia. The duo was also found guilty of molesting the Iranian merchant, stripping him naked and filming him on his mobile phone. According to Thursday’s ruling, the defendants were also convicted of threatening to dishonour the victim by posting his nude images on the internet if he didn’t provide them with the correct passcodes of his bank cards. The Nigerian man will be deported from the UAE after serving his jail term.
