Love just went digital in Abu Dhabi. Couples from anywhere in the world can now officially get married online through the Abu Dhabi government’s TAMM app — no travel, no paperwork hassle, and no waiting in long queues. The new service, launched under the emirate’s Department of Government Support, allows users to complete all marriage requirements — from filling out forms and submitting documents to booking an officiant and holding a virtual wedding ceremony — for just Dh800. Mohamed Al Askar, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority and head of the TAMM project, unveiled the feature during GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai. “It’s open to everyone. Whoever wants to get married in Abu Dhabi, regardless of their nationality, can get the service online,” Al Askar said. “People can go online and complete the entire process without visiting any physical location. We are among the first to do that.” The process can be completed in as little as 24 hours, offering couples worldwide a fast and legal way to tie the knot under Abu Dhabi’s civil marriage law, which allows non-religious marriages for foreigners — a first-of-its-kind policy in the Gulf region. Non-residents can also use the platform, provided they have a lawyer or legal representative in the UAE to oversee the process. The new digital marriage option is part of the updated TAMM app, which now offers access to more than 1,000 government services in one place. The UAE, which briefly allowed online marriages during the Covid-19 pandemic, is now taking the concept global — further positioning Abu Dhabi as a modern, inclusive hub for digital governance and progressive civil services.
