Defendants got contact details of victims from private WhatsApp chat group

  DUBAI - The Dubai Court of First Instance has sentenced three Pakistani men to six months in jail for stalking and blackmailing a college girl and her sister. The three men, aged between 20 and 33, threatened to photoshop the face pics of the two girls on images of nude women if they didn't date them. The defendants got the phone numbers of the two girls from a WhatsApp chat group in November last year. Since then, the three men would bombard the girls with at least 100 messages a day that were offensive or threatening in nature. The defendants threatened to burn down the girls' house and a car if the women did not yield to the trio's demands. A police sergeant told the court that they were able to track down the defendants and arrest them one after the other through a mobile phone number that had been used to harass the two girls. During a hearing on the case, the Pakistani men denied the charges but the court gave credence to the girls' testimonies and sentenced the three men to six months in jail. Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal ordered the confiscation of the cellphones of the defendants and their deportation after serving their prison sentence.
