Here are Abu Dhabi’s remaining COVID-19 rules

With the decrease of daily COVID-19 cases and the opening of the economy, major health-related restrictions have been lifted in Abu Dhabi. Several regulations, however, need to remain to ensure the public health towards the nation’s recovery. Face masks are now optional to be worn in Abu Dhabi’s outdoor and public places, but they are still required in all public indoor areas including shopping malls and schools. Anyone who has been in close contact with a person in a positive case no longer has to undergo home quarantine, but they must take PCR tests for five consecutive days. Face masks are still required in school indoors and outdoors. Private schools in Abu Dhabi allow students to attend school in person as long as they have no symptoms and must take a PCR test on day one and day four. Teachers and employees with possible exposure to the virus must also take PCR tests for five consecutive days. The Al Hosn green pass remains mandatory for most public places in Abu Dhabi. The validity of the green pass was reduced to 14 days which prompts the people to take PCR tests every two weeks. Tracking wristbands for people who tested positive for COVID-19 are no longer utilized during their home isolation. People at home isolation can either wait for 10 days until their Al Hosn pass reverts to green again or obtain two negative PCRs that are at least 24 hours apart. All border restrictions have been lifted as well as the removal of the mandatory PCR test at Abu Dhabi International Airport. A negative PCR test is only applicable if it is a requirement of the passenger’s final destination. Unvaccinated travellers are still required to present a negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours of their departure, or present a COVID-19 recovery certificate valid within 30 days of their flight. Children under 16 are exempted from these requirements. KSO/Expat Media
