Covid -infected Indian in Dubai gets healthy delivery

  DUBAI – A 25-year-old Indian woman infected with coronavirus has given birth to a healthy baby boy in Dubai. According to Al Zahra Hospital, the baby has been tested for the virus and both mother and baby need to have three negative tests for coronavirus before they can head home. The boy’s father, N.K. (full name withheld), said when he learned that his pregnant wife had contracted Covid-19, the couple was “afraid for the health of both my wife and the baby”. “Thankfully with the help of the doctors and nurses at the hospital, my son was born with no complications and my wife remains in stable condition,” said the father, who tested negative for coronavirus. The woman was admitted to the hospital on May 2 for Covid-19. She was due to give birth on May 19, but went into labour early. Maysoon Yousef, nursing director of Al Zahra Hospital, said everything “happened very quickly”. “The delivery took about 10 to 15 minutes which is something we do not see very often,” Yousef said. There were no complications and both mother and baby are in stable condition. The parents of the baby have yet to name him. The mother and baby are now in the same room to make it easier for nursing.
