  MADRID – Real Madrid's star player Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly given assurances that he is not leaving the Madrid football club. Ronaldo earlier threatened to leave the Spanish club because of the latter's alleged lack of support in his tax evasion case and how the Spanish press unfairly treated him. Spanish prosecutors sued Ronaldo with four counts of tax fraud amounting to 14.7 million euros or US$16.5 million in unpaid taxes. During a stopover in Madrid before proceeding to the US, media reports in Spain said Ronaldo met with Real Madrid officials to air his sentiments on the tax case. According to a Marca report, Ronaldo assured the club he will remain at the team for the foreseeable future and that Ronaldo was told by Real Madrid officials that they are doing everything they can to help him in his tax fraud cause. A hearing on the tax case filed against Ronaldo is set on July 31. The Spanish prosecutor's office earlier claimed that Ronaldo set up a "business structure" in 2010 to allegedly hide revenue from Spain's treasury that he earned from his image rights and described the offense as "voluntary" and "conscious". Ronaldo became a Spanish tax resident in January 2010 and, in November 2011, opted to follow the Spanish tax regime that applies to foreigners working in the country, the statement also said. But Gestifute, an agency representing the 32-year-old captain, said there was no attempt by Ronaldo to evade taxes as the firm described the case as a "complex one." Meanwhile, Ronaldo confirmed that he is now a father to twins, who he has reportedly named Mateo and Eva. They were born via a surrogate mother. Ronaldo broke the news on his Facebook page. The twins were born in the US last June 8. Ronaldo posted on Instagram a photo of him holding his newborn twins. "Happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life," Ronaldo wrote as caption.
