Authorities are investigating an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Las Vegas hotel on New Year’s day, exploring potential links to a terror attack. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that a Cybertruck pulled up to the entrance of the hotel owned by US President-elect Donald Trump before emitting smoke and exploding into flames. Seven people sustained minor injuries, and the driver died in the explosion. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill confirmed investigators know who rented the vehicle but withheld further details. Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that fireworks or a bomb likely caused the explosion. He also suggested a possible link to the New Orleans attack, though evidence remains inconclusive. Authorities said the incident is being investigated for connections to an attack that left at least 15 people dead in New Orleans the same day. The FBI is examining both incidents for potential ties to terrorism. New Orleans authorities recovered an ISIS flag and improvised explosive devices, though Las Vegas police have found no direct connections to international terrorism.
