Cyclone Shaheen weakens, but light rain forecast in UAE
DUBAI – Tropical cyclone Shaheen has weakened as it moved southwards, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) on Monday (October 4). Al Ain and surrounding areas are forecast to experience some light to moderate rain, with some clouds and winds over some Eastern areas. Cyclone Shaheen has weakened to a low pressure, and is moving southwards to the Empty Quarter. The NCM said light to moderate rain will decrease gradually by evening, with fresh daytime winds at speeds reaching 45 km/h to cause a sandstorm. The sea is very rough with waves up to 9 feet in height offshore of Oman Sea, reaching 5 feet over the east coast and rough in Arabian Gulf with waves of up to 7 feet, according to NCM. The weather bureau said it is monitoring the tropical situation around the clock and has called on the public to follow weather reports and warnings.
