Dad held after teen jumps off Sharjah building

  DUBAI – Police have taken into custody an Indian man whose daughter jumped to her death from a building in Sharjah. According to initial police investigation, Aswathi Ajay Kumar, 16, jumped off the balcony of the family's apartment on the seventh floor of a building in Al Majaz area following an argument with her father. Police said that the father and daughter had argued over a financial issue on Monday. Kumar had reportedly planned to buy her mother a gift for Mother's Day. After the argument, the teen then shut herself in her room and jumped off the balcony. Her body was found in a pool of blood on the pavement near the building. Forensic experts said that her skull, including various parts of her body, bore severe damage from the impact of the fall. The deceased teen's father has been taken to the Al Buhairah police station for interrogation. Her mother reportedly went into a state of shock following the incident and was taken to Al Kuwaiti Hospital for treatment.
