CEBU CITY – Danao City policemen are extra cautious, four days after the killing of the younger brother of Central Visayas alleged drug lord Alvaro "Barok" Alvaro as their police chief continue to receive death threats. Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of police of Danao City, said in a phone interview, that the last death threat he received was yesterday morning. According to Batobalonos, the text message reads: "Dili namo ilubong among igsoon kung walay pulis nga iapil ug lubong." (We will not laid to rest our brother if there will be no policeman who will also be buried). The Danao police chief said that is the fourth text message threatening him and his men. Two text messages were sent on Saturday while the first one was sent on Friday morning or just hours after Medz Alvaro was killed in a shootout. "Dili namo tagdon kay ang iro nga buot mopaak, mopaak dayon. Dili magsige ug paghot (We don't mind them because a dog that wants to bite, just bites immediately. It wouldn't just bark)," Batobalonos said adding that the sender uses different mobile numbers. "Wala ta mahadlok ana nila... Salig lang ta sa Ginoo (We are not afraid of them... We entrust our lives to God)," he said. But he noted that he advised his men to be extra careful in their activities especially at night. Batobalonos said they receive an intelligence report that the Alvaros had a meeting on Friday evening at their compound located in Barangay Looc. He added that they couldn't verify if what they talked about was the details of Medz funeral or if they are talking about another possible attack against the policemen. Surrender feelers of two of Alvaro's cousin were sent to Batobalonos since the killing of Medz happened but this is yet to be verified as he advised them to surrender personally to the station on Monday morning. According to Batobalonos, the Alvaros has recently revived the illegal business of Barok with the help of his wife and Medz, his younger brother.
