Ras Al Khaimah’s Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA) has alerted fishermen to exercise caution after a dead whale was spotted off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah. Fishermen have been told to exercise caution while approaching the beach to avoid colliding with the dead whale, which is estimated to be 31 metres long. Dr. Saif Al Ghais, the executive director of EPDA, said that the whale, which was discovered a few days ago, has been drifting closer to the shore near Al Jazeera Al Hamra Creek. It has been reported to be decomposing. Al Ghais said that EPDA is coordinating with specialized authorities to ensure that appropriate measures are taken if the carcass washes ashore. The EPDA says it is likely that the dead whale is a Baleen, a filter-feeding whale. It is not clear what caused the animal’s death. ICA/Expat Media
