Debts cleared for 442 prisoners freed from UAE jails
ABU DHABI - A total of 442 prisoners were released on orders of President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan ahead of Eid Al Adha.
The leader also promised to settle their financial obligations.
The keenness of the UAE President to give pardon to prisoners comes within a framework where they will be given a chance to start a new life. Also, it aims to alleviate the suffering of their families.
Similar act is also being done in Ajman as its ruler Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi ordered the release of 110 prisoners.
Sheikh Humaid, a Supreme Council Member, also pardoned these prisoners in order to give them a chance to also be with their families, possibly start a new life with them and at the same time alleviate their sufferings.
Those who have been released have met the terms of amnesty and were exempted from completing their terms. These prisoners had been serving their jail terms in correctional and punitive institutions of Ajman Police.
Prisoners sentenced to deportation will also be sent home.
