Could your sketch shape the future of Dubai’s transport? The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced an exciting new competition called the Sketch Battle, offering Dh15,000 in prizes to creative minds who can reimagine the city’s driverless bus of the future. The event will be held on September 25 at Za’abeel Hall 6, Dubai World Trade Centre, during the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025. Participants—ranging from automobile and product designers to graphic artists and hobby sketchers—will have just three hours, from 10am to 1pm, to draw their futuristic bus design live before an expert panel of judges. The top winner will walk away with Dh10,000, while the runner-up earns Dh5,000. Registration is open until September 12 via the Dubai World Congress website. Applicants must submit a PDF portfolio (maximum 5MB) or a link to their work for shortlisting. While A3 paper will be provided, participants must bring their own sketching tools—strictly no digital devices allowed. “This is a chance for creatives in the UAE to showcase bold, futuristic ideas that could inspire tomorrow’s transport solutions,” the RTA said.
