Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is currently detained for several criminal charges including sexual abuse and human trafficking, filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator in the 2025 Philippine elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday (October 8). According to Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco, Quiboloy submits his COC through an authorised representative. Quiboloy currently faces charges of sexual abuse of minors and child cruelty at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. He also faces human trafficking charges at the Pasig City Regional Trial Court, to which he pleaded not guilty on September 13. The "appointed son of god" is also wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the USA for his "alleged participation in a labor trafficking scheme that brought church members to the United States, via fraudulently obtained visas, and forced the members to solicit donations for a bogus charity. These donations were used to finance church operations and the lavish lifestyles of its leaders". FLE/Expat Media
