DEWA encourages everyone to participate in Earth Hour 2022

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is encouraging everyone to participate in Earth Hour 2022 by turning off unnecessary lights and electric appliances from 8:30pm to to 9:30pm on Saturday (March 26). With the theme “Shaping our Future,” the initiative aims to create proactive steps in protecting the environment and limiting global warming and climate change effects. The invitation is also extended to public and private organizations as well as the promotion of the Earth Hour on their official social media accounts. Saeed Mohammed AL Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the pioneering role of the authority and its efforts for environmental sustainability. Dubai was the first Arab city to participate in Earth Hour from its first launch in 2008 until last year with cumulative savings of 3.12 GWh of electricity and 1,607 tonnes of reduced carbon emissions. Everyone is encouraged to express their solidarity with the Earth through the hashtags #EarthHourDubai, #EarthHourUAE, and #Connect2Earth along with sharing conservation tips on their social media accounts.
