DEWA named Great Place to Work in UAE: here’s why

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been named a great place to work by the American Great Place to Work Institute Certificate, in collaboration with Fortune Magazine. The award is given to organisations for their excellence in providing the best work environment. DEWA ranked first among government organisations in the UAE and the GCC. This is the fourth time that DEWA has received the certificate as a great place to work. What makes DEWA a great place to work? Expatmedia.net found out that the company has many valuable programs in place to ensure that employees are happy at work. DEWA's employee happiness program that includes Wesal, a messaging system to celebrate employees’ personal occasions, such as birthdays. It also conducts regular employee happiness surveys. DEWA employees with children can take them to work at the in-office child care centres, which help ease the stress of working parents. There is also a Happiness Lounge where employees can “create positive energy and a happy work environment”. Employees facing personal emergencies can tap the Al Khair Fund, which provides financial support to the participating employees whenever they have urgent needs or financial needs that falls under the approved entitlement. Employees are able to save more through an app called DEWA Store where they can browse offers and discounts on products and services from participating shops, restaurants, hotels, travel agencies and more. Good performing employees are recognized through the Tejori Al Sadaa program, while its Barzatna Program organizes annual outdoor gatherings for staff. DEWA also has an employee assistance program called Estisharati that provides counselling for those facing personal problems.
