New insurance scheme launched for Indian expats in UAE

  DUBAI - Indian expatriates in the UAE can now avail of medical and accident insurance schemes in India, thanks to a first-of-its kind insurance policy that costs less than Dh1 per day. Launched in the UAE recently, new policy, My India Care, ensures continuity of cover when an insured person returns to India. The insurance policy is valid until the insuree's death and is a joint initiative by Gargash Insurance Services and takaful insurer Watania. Currently when Non Resident Indians (NRIs) return to India they find it difficult to obtain medical insurance, especially because of age and adverse medical conditions. My India Care scheme ensures continuity of cover when an insured person returns to India, until their death. However, this insurance scheme is not a replacement to expats' regular health insurance in the UAE, which is usually valid until the end of their employment tenure. "The idea behind the scheme is to ensure that expatriates and their dependents residing in UAE, India or elsewhere to get hospitalisation and day care benefits in India. This scheme is open for all NRIs in UAE below 55 years old, their spouse and children upto 24 years,” said Mustafa Oliyath Vazayil, Managing Director, Gargash Insurance "The new scheme allows access to the most advanced healthcare facilities on cashless direct billing basis. The hospitalization and daycare claim in India is administered by our partner Religare Health Insurance Co Ltd. through a wide network over 5000 medical providers across India. The policy is affordably priced and can be subscribed online. The premium starts from Dh311 per year or less than Dh1 per day.
