A man has been ordered to pay Dh10,000 in compensation to a woman he insulted via WhatsApp in Al Ain. The Al Ain Court of First Instance ruled in favor of the plaintiff, citing emotional distress caused by his actions. The man had been convicted of the offense in a criminal court prior to the civil suit. The woman sought Dh51,000 in damages, though the court deemed Dh10,000 adequate for non-material harm.
