UAE-Oman train reduces travel time to 100 minutes

The UAE-Oman railway network with an investment value of Dh11 billion reduces the travel time between Sohar and Al Ain to 47 minutes, and between Sohar and Abu Dhabi to 100 minutes. The agreement to build the Etihad Rail passenger train connecting the UAE and Oman was signed. Passenger trains will run up to 200 km per hour with Sohar to Abu Dhabi taking up only 100 minutes and Sohar to Al Ain taking up only 47 minutes. Freight trains, on the other hand, will run up to 120 km per hour. Due to its higher efficiency compared to other forms of transportation, the 303km railway network will boost market competitiveness and lower the overall cost of supply chains. The network will also open up trade and investment opportunities for the private sector, creating new and varied job opportunities, developing human resources at home, enhancing tourism, and international trade competitiveness, and solidifying UAE and Oman’s positions as logistics hubs that act as gateways to regional markets. For safe and fast passenger and freight services, the railway network will conduct the highest international security, safety, and environmental standards. Eleven cities and regions in the UAE will be connected by the Etihad Rail passenger train. These will stretch from Al Sila to Fujairah including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, and Abu Dhabi. KD/Expat Media
