Up to Dh500 fine for uncivilized behaviour on Abu Dhabi buses
DUBAI – Authorities in Abu Dhabi reminded commuters of fines of up to Dh500 for “uncivilized behaviour” on public buses in the capital. According to the Integrated Transport Centre, fines range from Dh100 to Dh500. A fine of Dh500 will be slapped on anyone who disrespects fellow passengers or use foul or indecent language with them. The same fine applies to anyone who shouts at the driver or distracts the driver in any way. Selling of bus cards to other passengers will also attract a fine of Dh500. If you ride the bus without paying the fare, there is a fine of Dh200. Eating, drinking or chewing gum while riding public buses is not allowed, and violators will be fined Dh200. Smoking will also attract a fine of Dh200. Anyone caught carrying sharp objects or flammable items while riding public buses will be fined Dh100. Using priority seats or designated areas for certain passengers will also attract a fine of Dh100.
