Police in Sharjah have thwarted a criminal gang’s bid to smuggle Dh800,000 worth of jewellery that they stole from a store in Khor Fakkan. The operation was made by the Criminal Investigations Department and the Eastern Region Police Department of the Sharjah Police General Command. Police found the stolen gold items in a shipping container that was being prepared to be smuggled out the UAE through a port in the country. According to police, a criminal gang robbed a gold shop in Khor Fakkan late at night and fled with the stolen gold. Within hours, police were able to track and identify the gang members involved in the heist. Police said work is underway to arrest the gang members, and a case involving the crime has been referred to the Public Prosecution. ICA/Expat Media
