DMCC launches new gaming center to support gamers, gaming industry
To support the rapidly expanding global and regional video games industry, DMCC, the world's premier free zone, and the Government of Dubai Authority on Commodities Trade and Enterprise have announced the opening of the DMCC Gaming Centre. The gaming industry in the MENA region currently generates US$1.8 billion in revenue, and by 2025, it is anticipated to reach US$5 billion. The DMCC Gaming Centre, which was introduced at the Dubai Esports Festival, formalizes DMCC's efforts in the gaming and esports industries and fosters an environment conducive to success for all gaming and esports businesses. DMCC is home to more than 50 gaming businesses, including esports organizations, game producers, and game developers. The DMCC Gaming Centre will be located in DMCC's award-winning free zone, offering unmatched access to a vibrant community of gaming industry peers to open up new possibilities for collaboration. Gaming companies seeking to connect with audiences worldwide will also gain from DMCC's fully digital setup process, world-class infrastructure, and dedication to enhancing business efficiency. Through regular events, esports competitions, and industry support from DMCC's ecosystem partner YaLLa Esports, a top esports organization in the UAE, members of the DMCC Gaming Centre will have access to the larger esports community. Members will also be able to join gaming-specific acceleration and market entry programs through our ecosystem partner, AstroLabs, a top creator of tech ecosystems in the MENA region. Through their accelerator programs ZK Advancer and The Sandbox Metaverse, DMCC and the international venture capital firm Brinc have enabled members to access $150 million in funding. Members of the DMCC Gaming Centre creating games with blockchain and web3 technologies will also have access to those programs. Nearly 3 point 2 billion people will play games and spend a combined total of US$196 point 8 billion in 2022, making the gaming industry one of the fastest growing in the world. Compared to the 1970s, when video games first became popular, the industry's size and growth are astounding, according to Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC. "These devoted audiences always seek deeper immersion and storytelling in the entertainment they prefer. There has never been a better time to formalize our efforts by establishing the DMCC Gaming Centre as our list of gaming companies grows quickly, and more of our DMCC Crypto Centre members enter the blockchain gaming space. We will firmly establish Dubai's status as a major hub for esports and gaming around the world with the help of this facility. " Due to its rich storytelling and greater immersion than other forms of content, gaming has become the most well-liked type of digital entertainment worldwide. Eight out of ten Gen Zs and millennials are gamers, according to DMCC research, and players between the ages of 25 and 40 spend up to seven hours gaming each week. With 68 percent of online users watching gaming-related content and 10 percent being esports enthusiasts, esports is also a rapidly expanding industry. Esports are now more widely watched than many traditional sports leagues, including the NBA and MLB.
