An investigation is ongoing after an aircraft crash in Ras Al Khaimah claimed two lives, including a 26-year-old Indian doctor and a Pakistani female pilot, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). On Sunday (December 29), the GCAA confirmed that the incident happened on December 26, with the light aircraft, owned by Jazirah Aviation Club, crashing shortly after takeoff near the Cove Rotana Hotel. According to the authority, the aircraft reportedly lost radio contact shortly after takeoff at 2pm and made an emergency landing attempt before plunging into the sea. Among the deceased was Dr. Sulaymaan Al Majid, a clinical fellow in the UK who had returned to the UAE for a family visit. Sulaymaan, a Dubai Scholars School graduate, was remembered for his advocacy work in healthcare as Honorary Secretary of the British Medical Association’s Northern Resident Doctors Committee. He was buried in Dubai’s Al Ghusais graveyard on Sunday. The pilot, a 29-year-old Pakistani woman, was equally mourned. Known for her passion for aviation, she had been a member of Jazirah Aviation Club for years. The GCAA extended its condolences to the families of both victims and confirmed that work teams are investigating the accident in collaboration with local authorities.
