Doha recruited militants from Gulf countries to undermine their anti-terror stance

  DUBAI – Mahmoud Al Jaidah, a Qatari national detained in the UAE for connections with the banned Islamist group Al Islah, has revealed Doha's plots against the Emirates and other Gulf countries. Al Jaihad made the revelation in audio and video confessions that were aired in a documentary shown on Emirati state television channels. Al Jaidah said Doha attempted to recruit militants from neighboring Gulf nations in a bid to link those states with radicalism as well as undermine their anti-terror stance before the international community. The militants were also tasked to carry out terror acts in the Gulf countries, he added. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt had cut diplomatic ties with Qatar as well as land, sea and air links to that country for its support to extremism. In the documentary, Al Jaidah said Doha supported Al Islah and even provided hotel accomodations to members of the illegitimate group. He revealed that Doha's ties with Al Islah members began with Khalid Mohammad Abdullah Al Shaiba, who was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in jail for links to the Muslim Brotherhood and setting up a branch of the organization in the UAE. Al Jaidah – who had been granted amnesty but attacked the UAE on his return to Qatar - said the Al Islah infiltrated Qatari state facilities with the support of the ruling family. He said 30 representatives of Al Islah governed the Ahl Al Hall Wa Al Aqd Council, whose members were identified by Al Jaidah as Eisa Al Ansari, Mohammad Thani, Nasser Mohammad Eisa, Ebrahim Al Ebrahim, Abdul Hamid Mahmoud and Khamis Al Mohannadi. The Al Islah's acts were supported by the Qatari government and organizations such as the Shaikh Thani Ibn Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services and the Shaikh Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Association. Al Jaidah recalled the transformation of Qatar over the past two decades into "the preferred" and "only" mediator of terror groups, noting that Doha's actions and meetings with the terrorists resulted in "blatant financing" of the terror organizations. The report highlighted Qatar's support of the Muslim Brotherhood and that admissions by Al Jaidah is further evidence of the country's association with the Muslim Brotherhood and the incubator of its militants. Al Jaidah said the Muslim Brotherhood has an "Executive Office" and "Shura Council" in its organizational structure. A Muslim Brotherhood defector, who also appeared in the documentary, claimed that Qatar has long been considered as the leading financier of the organization. Meanwhile, Al Jaidah revealed that Hakim Al Mutairi - a Kuwaiti national who actively finances and directs the Al Nusra Front in Syria and finances terror operations in Yemen and Libya - often attended meetings held in Istanbul, Turkey in the presence of Mohammad Saqr Al Za'abi and UAE-born Turkish resident Said Nasser Al Taniji.
