UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan condemned the shooting incident against former US president Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. "We stand in solidarity with former US President Donald Trump and those affected by the Pennsylvania incident. The UAE condemns in the strongest terms all forms of violence and terrorism," Sheikh Mohamed said. The shooting took place on Saturday (July 14 in UAE) as Trump made a speech during his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet hit Trump’s ear. One spectator was killed and two others were critically injured. Trump was seen with blood across his face, prompting his security agents to swarm him. He later emerged to pump his fist in the air. In a statement earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its sincere sympathy over the tragic incident. “The authority also expressed its solidarity with presidential candidate Trump and his family, as well as with the government and people of the US, and offered its heartfelt wishes for a full and speedy recovery,” according to MoFA. The ministry reiterated that the UAE “expressed its strong condemnation of these criminal and extremist acts” and “rejects all forms of violence.”

Trump shooter killed

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said the gunman has been shot and killed by Secret Service. The bureau named the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Trump posted a new statement after he was injured in the attempted assassination. "In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united," he said, adding that "we will fear not". He said he was shot in the ear, describing a "bullet ripping through skin". At a news conference, an FBI agent said it was "surprising" the attacker was able to open fire. A witness told the BCC that he saw a man with a rifle crawling on a roof and tried to warn the police. The Secret Service director has been summoned by the Oversight Committee in US Congress.
