UAE ministry warns consumers against contaminated Collagen protein bars   DUBAI – The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) warned UAE consumers against eating any Collagen Protein Bars or Bites, which are being recalled globally for potential listeria monocytogenes contamination. In a statement late on Saturday (June 24), the MOCCAE said it is closely following the food recall warning on the US Food and Drug Administration’s website regarding the recall of five potentially contaminated Bulletproof 360 Collagen Protein Bar and Bite products. The affected products were distributed between April 7 and June 12 in US retail stores and on bulletproof.com and sent to customers in different countries, including the UAE. The ministry reaffirmed that there is constant coordination with relevant authorities in the UAE to ensure the safety of all imported and traded food products. Listeria monocytogenes can cause a serious infection called listeriosis, which kills about 260 people every year. Symptoms can include headache, stiff neck, fever, muscle aches, confusion and loss of balance. In pregnant women, listeria has been known to cause miscarriages, stillbirths and premature delivery.
