Traffic violations on UAE National Day that you should avoid
DUBAI - The National Day holidays are cause for celebrations in the UAE but motorists and pedestrians have been warned to avoid flouting traffic and safety rules or risk being fined.
Police in Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be deploying more police patrols on the streets to spot violators during the National Day holidays. Mobile radars will also be installed on highways, streets and areas where National Day events are being held.
In Dubai, here's a list of offences to avoid
Reckless driving: Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, 60-day vehicle confiscation
Causing noise while driving the vehicle: Dh2,000 fine, 12 black points
Writing or putting stickers on vehicles without permit: Dh1,500 fine
Stopping in the middle of the road without cause: Dh1,000 fine and 6 black points
Littering and dumping trash from vehicles while driving: Dh1,000 fine and 8 black points
Causing a disturbance by incessant honking: Dh500 fine
Obstructing traffic: Dh400 and 4 black points
Covering vehicle number plates: Dh400 and 4 black points
In Abu Dhabi, police warned both motorists and pedestrians against breaking traffic rules, and said that police patrols and radars will be on the lookout for violators. Police did not specify the fines for specific violations spotted during National Day.
In Abu Dhabi, here are offences to avoid
- Leaving on car decorations after December 6
- Changing a vehicle’s colour
- Adding noisy accessories
- Coverimg licence plates
- Covering windshield
- Obstructing traffic
- Causing a noise disturbance with vehicle
- Reckless driving
- Sticking out any part of one's body from moving vehicle
Police also said they will monitor pedestrians for jaywalking and spray painting on drivers.
