Iconic Dubai tower prepares 'spectacular' 9-day light show

DUBAI – If you've never seen a dragon before, head to Burj Khalifa this week to catch the mythical creature "swirling up and flying around" the tower. “In all majestic grace, it then swirls up and flies around Burj Khalifa. At the pinnacle of the tower, the dragon releases a shining pearl from its mouth on to the spire,” according to property developer Emaar Properties. It's not a real fire-breathing dragon, however, but a "spectacular dragon-themed light and sound show" for nine days, according to Emaar. The show, which runs from February 16 to 24, will be held to ring in the Chinese New Year. Organisers hope it will resonate with Dubai's 253,000 Chinese residents. Visitors who want to get in the Chinese New Year spirit can head to Downtown Dubai to watch the display at 8pm and 10pm. “The show starts with a flying dragon taking flight from the Great Wall of China, soaring high in the sky, and touring over Dubai's landmarks including the upcoming Dubai Creek Tower before marking a splash at The Dubai Fountain,” said Emaar. The dragon show falls in between Burj Khalifa's replay of the "Light Up" New Year's Eve show, which runs daily until March 31.  JMYDS/Expat Media 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
