The Ajman criminal court is due to set a date for the start of the trial of a 22-year-old Emirati driver who crashed his pickup truck into a McDonald's restaurant at a petrol station in Ajman and killed two people. The July 17 incident killed a 45-year-old Indian woman and a nine-year-old Iraqi boy and also left six people injured at the McDonald's outlet at the Eppco petrol station in Ajman's Al Hamadiya area. Three of those injured were children. Police said that the driver suffered an epileptic fit. Prosecutors have charged him with murder and driving under the influence of drugs. The driver was earlier put in an extended police detention of 14 days as investigation into the incident continued.
