Dubai Police recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Trident Engineering & Marine to enhance the design and production of their unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), also known as drone boats. These drone boats are set to boost "security coverage of the emirates’ water areas." This MoU is part of the ongoing progress of Dubai Police's Smart Boat, Haddad. According to Dubai Police, it is the first of its kind project in the region. Maj-Gen Dr Saleh Abdullah Murad, director of the General Department of Human Resources, signed the MoU on behalf of Dubai Police and said, “Haddad project is based on extensive studies, research, visits, and joint coordination with various relevant entities to ensure this project becomes a local and global leading model.” The Haddad project also helps improve security operations, lower costs for security boats, speed up response times, and enhance databases through field surveys.
