A Bangladeshi national was killed after debris from an intercepted drone fell on a farm in Fujairah, while an Indian expat was injured in a separate incident in Umm Al Quwain, authorities confirmed on Wednesday (April 1). The Fujairah Government Media Office said the UAE’s air defence systems successfully intercepted a drone over the emirate before debris landed in the Al Rifa’a area. The Bangladeshi victim died at the scene, officials confirmed. Authorities stressed that emergency teams were immediately deployed and continue to monitor the area to ensure public safety. In a separate incident, the Umm Al Quwain Government Media Office said an Indian national was injured after debris from another intercepted drone fell near a facility in the Umm Al Thaoub Industrial area. Emergency responders secured the site and provided medical assistance to the injured individual. Officials urged residents to rely only on verified updates from official sources, warning that misinformation could cause unnecessary panic. According to authorities, these incidents bring the death toll in the UAE to 12 and injuries to at least 189 since the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran began on February 28. The UAE Ministry of Defence said that on April 1 alone, air defence systems intercepted five ballistic missiles and 35 drones originating from Iran. Since February 28, the ministry reported intercepting 438 ballistic missiles, 19 cruise missiles and 2,012 drones, affirming its readiness to counter threats and protect national security.
