Dubai authorities have confirmed that a drone was intercepted over the iconic Burj Al Arab, with debris causing a minor fire on the hotel’s outer facade. According to officials, Civil Defence teams responded immediately and brought the situation under control. No injuries were reported. The incident came amid heightened regional tensions and follows a series of security developments across the UAE over the weekend. On Saturday evening (February 28), Dubai authorities also confirmed an incident in a building on Palm Jumeirah. Emergency teams secured the site, while Dubai Civil Defence said a resulting fire was brought under control. Four people were injured in that incident and were transferred to medical facilities. Earlier on Sunday (March 1), an incident was also reported at Dubai International Airport (DXB). Dubai Airports confirmed that four individuals sustained injuries. They received urgent medical attention, and their condition is being monitored. Dubai Airports said emergency response teams were deployed immediately and managed the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities. The development came as the Ministry of Defense announced that UAE air defence systems had intercepted large numbers of missiles and drones launched amid attacks by Iran. According to the Ministry, “137 Iranian ballistic missiles were detected and launched toward the country, with 132 of them destroyed, while five fell into the sea.” The Ministry added that “209 Iranian drones were detected, 195 of which were intercepted, while 14 fell within the country's territories and waters, causing some collateral damage.” As a result of the interceptions, debris fell in parts of the country, causing minor material damage to a number of civilian properties, according to the Ministry. Authorities have continued to urge residents to remain calm, follow official instructions and rely only on verified information from government sources.
