A restaurant delivery worker is arrested after the Dubai Police discover drugs in one of the food orders delivered to the station. According to the investigation, the Asian delivery worker from a nearby cafeteria delivered eight rice meals for a Gulf national working with the police. The worker added that the order was paid via a credit card with a request for the meals to be delivered to the detention station. The strange order sparked suspicion of the officers at the station who proceeded to search the meals. The police found a lighter, medwakh (pipe), and a box with three red and white capsules with suspected drug substances. The worker was then arrested and interrogated. The food order was found to be made by one of the detainees in the police station who was currently fined Dh2,000 in a drugs case and been sentenced to one year of prison term by the Criminal Court. During further interrogation with the employees of the cafeteria, the manager of the store told the police that the detainee requested the worker for the preparation of the rice meals and asked the worker to deliver the meals to the police station. The employees also provided the details of the vehicle of the detainee which the probe discovered to have been previously seized during the detainee’s earlier case of driving under the influence of drugs.
