Three expats were sentenced to five years in prison in Dubai for stealing a $20 million diamond from a money transport company. The Dubai Court of Appeal affirmed the conviction of the Dubai Criminal Court, which ordered the prisoners to reimburse the value of the stolen diamond. According to investigation records, one of the offenders, a money transport firm employee, planned to take a diamond piece from the company safe with the assistance of two coworkers. To avoid being detected, they planned to carry out the crime after identifying the location of CCTV cameras within the safe. The three criminals entered the company using duplicate keys on the day of the crime and stole the diamond. They attempted to smuggle it out by concealing it inside a shoe. The diamond was recovered when the Dubai Police arrested two of the accused at Dubai International Airport. They will be deported once they have served their jail terms. BKM/ Expat Media
