Five hikers stranded on the rugged terrain of Hatta mountains have been rescued, according to Dubai Police. The hikers, engaged in a mountain walking activity, became trapped after encountering hazardous conditions that prevented their descent on Monday (January 13). Dubai Police’s Command and Control Centre initiated the operation upon receiving the distress call. Colonel Pilot Khalfan Salem Al Mazrouei, Acting Director of the Air Wing at Dubai Police, described the operation: “Our helicopter team responded promptly, working with Hatta Police Station and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to locate and rescue the individuals. The terrain and height posed significant challenges.” A helicopter equipped with a crane was dispatched to the scene. Two paramedics, along with two pilots and a navigator, coordinated efforts to safely hoist the stranded individuals to safety. Landing was deemed impossible due to the mountainous region’s conditions. Mishaal Julfar, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, confirmed that all five individuals were foundin good health and did not require hospitalization. Dubai Police used the incident to underscore the importance of adhering to safety guidelines in mountainous areas. “We urge the public to follow designated hiking trails and avoid venturing into restricted areas. In emergencies, contact 999 or use the SOS feature on the Dubai Police app,” Al Mazrouei advised.
