The Dubai Police have uncovered an international drug trafficking network by apprehending six individuals in less than seven hours after receiving a tip. According to an informant, the suspects planned to transport drugs in 280 packaging bags (5.6 tonnes) filled with a mix of natural and plastic broad beans. The culprits were pursued by police, who raided their hideout and recovered 436kg of narcotics. The mission, codenamed 'Operation Legumes,' involved the deployment of a K9 squad to detect the narcotics hidden in plastic food. Some of the gang members live in Dubai, while others reside abroad. According to the source, the drugs would be hidden in a cargo of legumes and housed in a warehouse. The police raided the facility after locating it. Officers recovered the cargo intended for a "nearby country." An officer stated that the exchange of information and expertise with other law enforcement agencies has "contributed significantly" to the interception of drug smuggling attempts.
