Dubai is expanding its Red Carpet biometric system for 6-second passport checks to arriving passengers ARCHIVE

Dubai Airports will extend its “Red Carpet” biometric corridor—currently used for departures—to arriving passengers at Terminal 3 within two months, officials confirmed. The smart corridor allows travelers to clear passport control in as fast as six seconds and no more than 14 seconds, without presenting travel documents or stopping. The system can also process groups of up to 8–10 passengers simultaneously using real-time biometric data. Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, told state news agency WAM that the innovation reflects the airport’s mission to “reimagine the passenger journey by integrating technology into operations and enhancing the efficiency and productivity of travel procedures.” He said much of the technology lies behind the scenes, including AI systems that analyze aircraft positioning, assess aircraft characteristics, and process operational data in real time. Al Joker said the record-breaking passenger volumes this year are the result of an integrated ecosystem built on efficiency, One DXB teamwork and Dubai’s strong tourism demand. Dubai Airports expects to exceed 95.2 million passengers in 2025 and is preparing for peak December travel with flexible operational plans. On Al Maktoum International Airport, he said current operations have handled 910,000 passengers in the first half of the year and are expected to reach nearly 1 million by year-end.
