A total of 661 new companies operating in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) created 3,057 new jobs in the first half of 2023, according to DIFC. The total number of employees based in DIFC is now 39,140, reflecting a 20 percent increase from the previous year. “Our unwavering commitment to growth has yielded outstanding results, with client attraction and expansion leading to a remarkable increase in job creation, bolstering the international workforce in DIFC,” said Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority. At the end of June 2023, there were 4,949 companies operating in DIFC, a rise of 23 percent from the previous year. At the same period, DIFC recorded 811 businesses in FinTech and Innovation industries, representing a 35 percent increase; and 1,443 businesses in the financial and innovation-related industries, reflecting an increase of 15 percent from the previous year. “DIFC’s exceptional performance in the first half of the year once again demonstrates the strength of the ecosystem it offers for investment, innovation and enterprise to flourish in the financial industry. DIFC has not only propelled Dubai’s development into a pre-eminent global financial hub but also helped create new spirals of growth in the wider region,” said Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE and President of DIFC. More than 200 new businesses are expected to be launched with the help of the DIFC Launchpad, which also plans to generate over 8,000 new jobs and over Dh2 billion in venture capital.
