A four-woman gang from Africa has been sentenced to life imprisonment for drug trafficking and possession. The Dubai Criminal Court also ordered their deportation post-sentence. A life sentence in the UAE is equivalent to 25 years in jail. The gang’s case unfolded after Dubai Police launched an operation following a tip-off about drug promotion in Business Bay. A female officer posed as a buyer, leading to the gang’s arrest. Authorities found significant quantities of narcotics during a search of the suspects’ Jumeirah residence. A fifth accomplice denied involvement but admitted to unknowingly transporting goods for payment. In addition to life imprisonment, the court prohibited the suspects from money transfers for two years after completing their sentences, except with UAE Central Bank approval. ICA/Expat Media
