Don't want check-in problems at Dubai airports? Follow these new rules

  DUBAI - New baggage rules were enforced at Dubai International after they into effect on Wednesday, with passengers advised to follow the rules or risk delays. The airport authority explained the new regulations: "Customers are being asked to not bring round bags to DXB as they can jam our baggage system, delay baggage delivery and inconvenience other passengers. Please ensure baggage has at least one flat surface." Oversized or irregularly shapped luggage without at least one flat surface will not be allowed at check-in counters. The baggage should not be larger than 90 centimetres long, 75 centimetres high and 60 centimetres wide. Flat-bottomed rectangular and square packages will still be accepted at the check-in counters provided that they are not oversized or irregularly shaped. These bags should also not be tied with plastic ropes, which can snag on conveyor belts. Passengers will non-compliant baggage, however, will still have the option to repack their items in a box for a fee or have their luggage checked in at the oversized baggage counter.
