Dubai Airport released some guidelines for travellers on what items they can carry in their hand baggage to avoid delays and achieve a hassle-free airport journey. For any items which are liquid, aerosol, or gel, the item/items must be in a transparent resealable bag of 20x20 cm size and the total volume must not exceed one litre or individual containers must not exceed 100ml. Exceptions to this rule are medication and baby-related food or milk. For medication, it must be kept in original containers and with easily accessed prescriptions. To achieve an easy security clearance, here are the general tips for packing items:
  • Personal belongings should be placed in the hand baggage
  • Laptop and other electronic items must be placed where they can be easily reached to be placed in a security tray at the security scan.
  • Remove old baggage tags to avoid being rejected by the baggage system.
  • Avoid using bags with round or irregular shapes and ensure that they have at least one flat surface.
The things that must NOT be carried in the hand baggage are the following:
  • Sharp items
  • Weapons
  • Scissors
  • Knives
  • Flammable items
  • Ammunition
  • Firearms
  • Lighter
  • Nails, drills, hammers, and clippers
  • Batteries
