Dubai announces two deputy rulers

Dubai now has two deputy rulers, according to a new decree issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in his capacity as ruler of Dubai. The appointment of a second Deputy Ruler of Dubai was announced on Friday (April 28). Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was appointed second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. He will serve alongside Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the first Deputy Ruler of Dubai. This follows several leadership changes announced by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan last month. Sheikh Mohamed appointed his brothers Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Abu Dhabi’s Deputy Rulers. Sheikh Mohamed then appointed his eldest son, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The UAE President also appointed his brother, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as Vice President, to serve alongside Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who is also Vice President.
